"Całymi dniami potrafi być sama. 'I co ty właściwie wtedy robisz?' - pytają znajomi.
'Jestem ze sobą." - odpowiada rozbawiona."

"She can be alone all days long. 'And what do you actually do then?' her friends ask. 'I am with myself', she answers amused."

"Kobiety potrzebują chwil prawdziwej samotności, żeby zrównoważyć to, ile siebie dajemy innym."

I found the quote from the collage on darling Patty's blog. I knew right away that I would collage it one day.

a teraz historyjka.

and now a short story. not a long ago I met with a very special person whose warmth and energy might warm a big city. first, she gave me this present which turned out to be prophetic: /the text on the bookmark/: "have a delicious time"
- - - gdyż po chwili stanęły przed nami dwa wielkie talerze pełne pysznych pierogów, a w torebeczce znalazłam to oto ciasteczko. :)

- - - after a while we were given two huge plates full of delicious traditional Polish dumplings and when I looked inside the blue bag I found there this handmade little cake. :)

while we were talking we confessed what each of us had in her bag and it turned out that I found glue and scissors in mine (yes, I know... it's called a collage compulsion...).. what was there to do - we just had to create a quick collage from a found magazine. serendipity did its magic and the collage perfectly describes our meeting...
/the text says/: "it's raining/an unusual visit/in big cities/chilled out and reflective/two women connected by/the soul/we look inside our bags/it's a simple way/to get to know each other/you know what I mean..."

and one more thing. I just wanted to add that the collage from the top of the page was made thanks to my Art Sister LaWendula who was my Paper Swap partner this month. I'll show you some of my favorite bits from the magical envelope that arrived on my doorstep.

FM, I don't know how you do it but you just always KNOW...
thank you from the bottom of my heart.

wszystko zaczęło się od bloga Amelii - Notes from the Edge.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *it all began with Amelia and her blog - Notes from the Edge.
when I first saw it I just couldn't stop reading. so many of Amelia's posts have stayed with me for a long time.
then I saw that she's organizing an e-course called "Mothering Authentically" and I knew right away that it's exactly something that I need right now in my life.
the objective of the course is dispelling the myth of the perfect mum. we all know that such mums are non-existent but which one of us gives herself permission not to be one?

one of our first assignments was to create a self-portrait - one of our favorite photos + adjectives describing our personality. when I first read about it I thought: this will be a piece of cake, I've done it before.
but...when I sat down to creating and choosing the words to describe me I suddenly realised that I tend to hide behind vague metaphors or silly witty sentences.
but this time I decided to take a deep breath, to stop being autoironic. I decided to be authentic and gentle to myself (tougher than I might think).

the photo is me age about 7. not much has changed since then. ;) I'm still bookish and perfectly content to escape to the intimate world in my head. and I write in books. :)

the text at the top are words cut out from my psychological profile.
/the Polish text at the bottom:/
"anxious/a dreamer/I'm never bored/she would like to but she's afraid/I had no idea I had so much strength"

the cover of my mummy art journal.
I know for sure that this will be an incredible experience. a difficult but so very needed.

/the text on the cover:/

"Serendypność. * Szukasz czegoś, znajdujesz coś zupełnie innego i odkrywasz, że to, co znalazłeś bardziej odpowiada twoim potrzebom niż to, czego pierwotnie szukałeś."
/Lawrence Block/

o tu. i tu.

"Serendipity. Look for something, find something else, and realize that what you have found is more suited to your needs than what you were looking for."
/Lawrence Block/

a quick collage inspired by The Thought Jar - this week is about beautiful mess.
I used bits and pieces lying around on my desk.
(the text says):
"creative rut? never!" -> these words are supposed to be cheering me up as lately I'm not feeling my strongest when it comes to creating.

a skoro mowa o bałaganie -
podobnie jak Guriana i ja też mam swoje bałaganiarskie pudełko skarbów:

and speaking of mess -
just like my friend Guriana, I also have my inspirational box of treasures:

and there's also a wall next to my desk. it's crowded but I'm unable to take anything off, I'm only gradually adding new things...
with a huge thank you to all those of you who contribute to cluttering my wall... :)

postanowiłam nadrobić spóźnienie z sukienkami z projektu Dress Up.
moją majową sukienkę dedykuję Michelle, która ogłosiła maj miesiącem Sztuki Codziennie.
to było trudne zadanie. ale i terapeutyczne.

I decided to go back to creating dresses for the Dress Up Project.
this is my May dress which is dedicated to Michelle who organised her own project for May - Art Every Day.
it was a difficult task to create something every single day. but also a very therapeutic one.

"art every day"

(the back):
"I create, therefore I am."

/Marguerite Kelly i Elia Parsons/

"Motherhood brings as much joy as ever, but it still brings boredom, exhaustion, and sorrow too.
Nothing else will ever make you as happy or as sad, as proud or as tired, for nothing is quite as hard as helping a person develop his own individuality - especially while you struggle to keep your own."
/Marguerite Kelly & Elia Parsons/

jakiś czas temu postanowiłyśmy z Gurianą wymienić się mini książeczkami w temacie muzycznym. dowolnie interpretowanym.
wybrałam tę piosenkę, którą Kayah napisała dla swojego synka.

a while ago my friend Guriana and I decided to have a mini book swap which involved any interpretation of music.
I chose this song by Kayah who wrote it for her son.
(left): "Before I knew you would come, I had already been waiting for you.
(right): And in the evenings when the lights were out, I would put a candle in my bedroom window so that its flame - like a lighthouse - would show you the way."
(the pregnant lady): "everything's changed."

(left): "why should you wander on the oceans/find me"
(right): "Before I knew you would come I had already loved you. And I had been searching for you in every person I met but I hadn't known that at the time."

(the photo frame): "I'm a mum."

(left): "Before I knew you would come I had already heard (shhh...) your quiet steps."
(right): "And at night when the dusk would creep at the house and the wicked silence looked at me from the walls, the merciful night threw a star at me so that my dream would come true

so that you could be here, my love."

last week I had a great pleasure to meet Guriana in person and to thank her for the mini book (below) that she made for me - it's an illustration of 6 chill out pieces.
make sure you visit her blog to enjoy all the delicious details!!!
