prosty kolaż, który właściwie był tylko rozgrzewką na warsztacie, o którym pisałam ostatnio.
nasze zadanie nie było skomplikowane - ułożyć kolaż z kwadratów. zaskakującym natomiast było to, jak odmienne prace powstały...

this simple collage was a warm up exercise during a workshop I wrote about a couple of days ago.
our task was not complicated at all - create a collage out of squares. it was quite surprising how different our works turned out...

a ja miałam jeszcze swój osobisty moment serendypii...
kartki z tekstem, które wyciągnęłam z wlasnej torby - bez czytania i analizowania - okazały się być opowiadaniem osadzonym w czasie II wojny światowej. pocięte fragmenty chcący-niechcący wpisały się w przesłanie pracy.

as for me, I had my own serendipity moment...
looking for the text to cut out I took some pages out of my bag - without reading or analyzing. the text truned out to be a short story set during World War II and the squares I cut suddenly turned out to be just a perfect message in my work.

this collage was created during a workshop called "Warsaw That No Longer Exists" that was a prelude to a new exhibition to be held in Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

trwa moja przygoda z "21 Sekretami". tym razem czas spędziłam pod opieką Kim, która w swoim kursie zadała kilka prostych pytań: "Czy twoje prace sprawiają, że się uśmiechasz? Czy sprawiają, że czujesz się lepiej? Że tracisz poczucie czasu? A może stały się czymś Bardzo Poważnym i zagubiłaś się wśród oczekiwań (własnych i innych ludzi), zasad i reguł, osądów i opinii?"

więc zrobiłam. lekko i kolorowo. bez myślenia i cierpień twórczych.

połączyłam w jednym dwa zadania: 1) trzeba było zrobić tzw. szybki kolaż z tego, co pod ręką i co do człowieka zawoła i 2) użyć wreszcie tych wszystkich rzeczy, których zawsze nam "szkoda" (w moim przypadku: zakurzone stemple i "święte" papiery projektu Finn, na które poważyłam się z farbami... ;) ) napisy to słowa Kim.

I'm continuing my adventure with 21 Secrets. this time it was Kim's turn who encourages us to Jump In Puddles. in her course she asked some simple questions: "Does your work make you smile, or even laugh out loud? Does it make you feel lighter? Does it make you completely lose track of time? Or did somewhere along the line your journal become a burden? Did it become Something Serious? Do you feel caught up in Expectations, Rules and Judgments - either from yourself or from others?"

and so I went for it. I wanted my page to be light and colorful. without overthinking every move. no artistic struggle this time round.

I did two exercises in one: 1) I created a quick collage with images and papers that were lying on my desk and calling me and 2) I used some of those supplies that I once bought and saved for "one fine day" because they were too pretty to waste. "waste" - what a stupid idea. in my case: cute rubber stamps and papers designed by Finnabair that I finally dared to cut and even paint over. ;)
