/Michael Cunningham/

"There's just this for consolation: an hour here or there when our lives seem, against all odds and expectations, to burst open and give us everything we've ever imagined, though everyone but children (and perhaps even they) know these hours will inevitably be followed by others, far darker and more difficult. Still, we cherish the city, the morning; we hope, more than anything, for more. Heaven only knows why we love it so...”
/Michael Cunningham/

w Collage Caffe ogladałyśmy "Godziny".

inspired by "The Hours" movie. take a look at my friends' art created after watching it.

/autor nieznany/

"Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best."
/author unknown/

some time ago we had a really nice creative meeting in Scrap Studio - each of us brought her set of papers, we shared them with each other and put together lovely collaborative notebooks.
now it's my sketchbook in which I test new art supplies or simply act on a whim without too much thinking and analyzing. no pressure to create a masterpiece. ;)
{the text on the cover above}: "Perfection? No, thank you!"
{the text}: "I dared to say/strong women create the world/we live more and more bravely/what's going on in our head?"

"Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is to believe with all your heart that good things can come out of sorrow."
/Wendy Brightbill/

wszystkie kolaże powstały na comiesięczne wspólne cięcie gazet w Collage Caffe.
w tym miesiącu zapraszamy do wyjątkowego tytułu. ;)

all the collages were created for our monthly challenge on Collage Caffe - we choose the same magazine and invite all the Polish girls to play with scissors.
{the text above}: "It's unbecoming to cry."
{the text}: "It's crucial not to treat inspirations too literally."
{the text}: "Isn't it strange?/what does it mean?/one needs to create an abstract"
 {the text}: "Sometimes I'm an artist/My God/sometimes the fight doesn't make sense."

/Georges Braque/

"Art is a wound turned into light."
/Georges Braque/

{the text above}: "irritation/headaches/dizziness/eyes filled with tears"

{the text}: left - "Be brave"
right - "I am not quite so sure."
I finally managed to cut and collage some of the papers from a gorgeous new collection created by my friend - Makowe Pole.
{the text}: "Damn!"

"Przyjaciel to ktoś, z kim chcesz przebywać wtedy, gdy masz ochotę pobyć w samotności."
/Barbara Burrow/

"A friend is somebody you want to be around when you feel like being by yourself."

one of my favourite parts of traveling with the Right People is the fact that we just can't help ourselves and journal and collage away even on crowded trains. the above pages were created together with Agnieszka-Anna and Czekoczyna.
{the text}: left - "Who hasn't travelled by train at least once in a lifeteime?/let's go away by train, as far as we can/we should buy a ticket of course/have a nice journey"
right - "in Warsaw at home on Wednesdays and Fridays I don't drink, but here in this pleasant company two bottles of vodka for fun/How long did it take? Two and a half hours. Have I said anything silly? Not at all."
and it looked like this:

and here are my wonderful talented art friends. we spent a wonderful weekend talking glueing painting and inspiring each other:
no i się porobiło. efekty:

and some silly collages I made:
George. mój Muz. ;)

George is my Muse. ;)
{the text}: "she wanted to stop the wild flutter of her heart/but the awakening touched her with its merciless hand."
 {the text}: "Now I'm even more courageous."
tag zrobiony na gościnne wyzwanie na Craft Artwork.

{the text on the tag above}: "Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another: 'What? You too? I thought I was the only one.' "
{the text}: "It's so lovely here in the summer, the garden is very pretty, too. We could sit here all night long. And how to go back to Warsaw..."

"Herbatę się pija, by zapomnieć o hałasie świata."
/T'ien Yiheng/

"We drink tea to forget the noise of the world."
/T'ien Yiheng/

I made this box for a friend of mine who lives far away. I wanted her to think of me while drinking some delicious tea. and what was inside the box...?

well, tea obviously. the trick though was the fact that I carefully opened each of the paper bags, slipped a little note inside each of them and carefully glued them back. hoping to surprise my friend.
 a co było na karteczkach...?

and what was on the cards...?
cytaty cytaty cytaty...

quotes quotes quotes...
"A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water."
"Starzenie się jest nieuniknione, dorastanie jest opcjonalne."

a na deser chciałabym wam jeszcze pokazać krótki filmik, który idealnie pasuje do dzisiejszego cytatu:

I would also like to show you a beautiful short film which goes perfectly with today's quote:

"Nie jestem dziwna. Jestem limitowaną edycją."

"I'm not weird. I'm limited edition."

{the text above}:
"-What's wrong with you? You've been acting strange for the last couple of days."

below - the opposite page in my art journal - created quickly and simply out of paper leftovers from the collage above.

"Ilu z nas by w ogóle zauważyło, gdyby Muza zapukała jutro do naszych drzwi?"
/Carole Katchen/

"If a muse knocked at our studio door tomorrow, how many of us would even notice?"
/Carole Katchen/

zadałam kolejne pytanie.
w otwartej po urlopie Collage Caffe odpowiedzi Kawiarnianych Artystek.

above - a question I asked in my round robin altered book: "What is the relationship between a model and an artist?"

tak wygląda moja odpowiedź:

below is my answer:
left - "Her inner flame was burning." right - "When one is a work of art."

/John Green/

"Maybe our favourite quotations say more about us than about the people we're quoting."
/John Green/

mój wpis do żurnalu Karoli, którego temat brzmi: "Czego o mnie nie wiecie?" cóż... nadszedł czas odsłonić tajemnice... ;)

this is my entry in Karola's art journal. the topic was: "Something you don't know about me." well, the time has come to  reveal some secrets... ;)
{the text on the page above}: "Every cliché might seem fascinating when it's shrouded in mystery." (and it rhymes in Polish :) )
tak wygląda całość, a pańcia skrywa moją tajemnicę...

above you can see the full spread and the pretty lady is revealing my secret...
{the text}: "I am quite ordinary."
{some more secrets on the hidden tag}: "She doesn't like to talk about herself. She prefers to quote."
"Confession is torture."

/Brendan Francis/

"Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them.

"Sometimes people cry not because they’re weak. It’s because they’ve been strong for too long."

a small canvas created during a class taught by Cynka. we were instructed to have fun with colours and just splash them around without thinking (the not thinking part turned out to be the most difficult for me ;) ).
(the text says): "Me crying? What for?"
